Chris Calori and SEGD Testify at ICC/ANSI Committee

Chris Calori represented the SEGD, providing testimony before an International Code Council committee meeting in Washington, DC. The committee is meeting on proposed changes to the current ICC/ANSI A117.1-2009. Approved changes may eventually appear in state and local building codes or in future updates to the ADA’s 2010 Standards for Accessible Design (SAD).
Chris testified on proposed modifications and refinements to the signage guidelines, which closely parallel the guidelines in the 2010 SAD. Among the modifications recommended was the use of up-to-date versions of the International Symbol of Accessibility—the wheelchair symbol. The existing ISA hasn’t been updated in decades.
