Stocking Hall is home to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and houses the Cornell Dairy, the world famous Cornell Dairy Bar, a winery, laboratories, classrooms, and offices. C&VE designed a comprehensive signage, wayfinding, and placemaking system for the complex, consisting of exterior and interior signs, and large-scale iconic graphic elements. The dairy plant machinery is visible to passersby making for a theater-like experience of dairy operations. Reinforcing the dairy’s identity, C&VE designed a large mural containing images of cows hidden within a field of black “cow spots” on a white wall.
The Dairy Bar–a major campus destination–is identified by a monumental wire-frame milk bottle sculpture. Room identification signs incorporate a molecular diagram pattern and Cornell’s school colors, further reinforcing the research function of Stocking Hall as well as Cornell’s brand. Basic standards for room donor signage complement the room identification signs.
