The building’s architectural and interior design employs subtle references to nautical forms in grand spatial gestures. In the project signage, C&VE reinforces these delightful nautical references through sculptural, white sign forms inspired by the sails of schooners. Further reinforcing the convention center’s nautical references, interior signs feature a subtle blue-water glow along the edges of overlapping sign planes.

The sign graphics system is simple and clear, utilizing a contemporary humanist typeface and colors and finishes that speak to the nautical history of Virginia Beach.
